Build and launch an app with Claude

No app-builder credits · no terminal · about 20 minutes

If you already use Claude, you don't need to buy credits on another platform to make a small app. Ask Claude to build it, check it in the chat, then put it online on its own link with Utplava. You only need a free GitHub account.

Good for: calculators, quizzes, landing pages, price lists, booking-request forms that email you, small tools for your team. Anything that fits on a single page.

Not for: apps where people log in or save data to a database. For those, see bigger apps below.

See the result: tip-calculator.utplava.dev, a bill-splitting calculator built in one Claude chat and put online by following these exact steps.

Steps

  1. Ask Claude to build it as one file

Start a new chat and describe your app. Ending your message with this sentence makes it easy to put online later:

Build this as a single index.html file, with all the HTML, CSS and JavaScript inside it. Don't use anything that needs installing or a build step.

Claude shows a working preview next to the chat.

  2. Get it right in the chat

Click around the preview and ask for changes in plain words: "make the button bigger", "add a total at the bottom", "make it work well on phones". Each change costs nothing extra beyond your normal Claude plan.

  3. Download the file

When you're happy, use the download option on the preview and save the file as index.html. The name matters: it's what tells Utplava this is the home page.

  4. Create a GitHub repository

Sign in to github.com (it's free), open github.com/new, give the repository a short name like price-calculator and click Create repository.

  5. Upload your file

On the new repository's page, click uploading an existing file (or Add file → Upload files), drag in index.html and click Commit changes.

  6. Put it online with Utplava

Open app.utplava.dev and continue with GitHub. Tap New app, then Manage GitHub access and add your new repository. Then tap Choose a repository and Select yours: Utplava checks it straight away. When it says Ready to deploy, tap Deploy. It recognises a plain HTML website, so there's nothing to set up.

  7. Open your link

In a minute or two your app is live at your-repository-name.utplava.dev, with HTTPS. Share it with anyone.

Making changes later

Ask Claude for the change, download the new index.html, and upload it to the same repository the same way. GitHub replaces the old file, and Utplava puts the new version live by itself in about a minute. If a change breaks something, open the app in Utplava and tap Restore on the version that worked.

Skip the dashboard: let Claude deploy it

You can connect Utplava to Claude once, then just say "deploy my repository your-name/price-calculator to Utplava" or "is my app live yet?" in the chat. It takes about two minutes to set up: see Deploy from your AI agent.

Bigger apps, with logins or a database

For an app with several pages, user accounts or saved data, build it with Claude Code, which can create a full project and save it to GitHub for you. Then follow the guide for AI code editors. Utplava can create a PostgreSQL database for the app when it needs one.

If something doesn't look right

My file downloaded as "index (1).html" or "index1.html"

Browsers add a number when a file with the same name is already in your downloads. Rename it on GitHub: open the file in your repository, click the pencil icon, change the name at the top to index.html and click Commit changes. Utplava updates by itself.

Utplava says it can't find a page to show

Check the file in your repository is called exactly index.html, all lower case, and sits at the top level, not inside a folder.

My repository isn't in the list

Utplava can only see repositories you've shared with it. Tap Manage GitHub access and add it.

The app works in Claude's preview but looks broken online

Ask Claude: "This needs to work as a standalone index.html file opened in a normal browser. Remove anything that only works inside your preview." Then download and upload again.

Is my app safe to share?

Run it through the free App safety check. If you ever paste an API key into your app, don't: anything in index.html can be read by every visitor.

Still stuck?

Email contact@dealup.co.in with your app's name. A real person will help you get it live.
